Ever seen a bright-orange vending machine inside a 15th-century church? Us neither. We built one for Thuisbezorgd.nl, because after conquering football and music, the world's largest delivery platform stepped into the night during Amsterdam Dance Event.
In the wake of Champions League campaigns and music collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Katy Perry and Craig David, Thuisbezorgd.nl was looking to venture into nightlife for the first time. They did so as a partner of Audio Obscura during an exclusive event in Amsterdam's Nieuwe Kerk with Honey Dijon and the ZO! Gospel Choir.
For the past 30 years, Amsterdam has been defined by contrasts in the third week of October. ADE is a yellow-black clash between centuries-old canals and the cutting edge of contemporary electronic music. It tells you why putting a world-renowned DJ on stage with a gospel choir in the city's most iconic church is, well, almost logical.
We developed an activation around the debut. The centrepiece: a unique orange-clad 'automatiek' packed with everything you need for a night out, including earplugs, mints, power banks, vouchers and even golden tickets to other events. Visitors could try their luck with a special token they received upon entering.
For invitees, we designed a 3D pop-up invitation honouring the centuries-old building - a delivery box with custom-made sound that made the Nieuwe Kerk unfold into life. It went to a select group of tastemakers, helping the activation reach far beyond the church and generate substantial earned media.
